Fees

Standard consultations at The Viewpoint are for 50-minutes. Consultations with a psychologist range from $200 to $260 per session. With a valid referral, a Medicare rebate of between $90-$130 is available.
After hours surcharges may apply.

For those not requiring a rebate, a doctor’s referral is not required.

Our fees are below the recommended consultation rate set by the Australian Psychological Society (APS), which is currently $300.

Medicare Rebate

If referred by your GP along with a Mental Health Care Plan, you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate, which will be deposited into your bank account following payment for each session.

Medicare card holders are eligible for 10 Medicare funded sessions per calendar year, with reviews from the referring practitioner required throughout.

Paediatricians and Psychiatrists can refer to psychologists for Medicare-eligible services. A Mental Health Care Plan is not required; however, you do require a referral letter.

Private Health Insurance

Psychology services may be subsidised by your private health insurer if you have a suitable policy with extras cover (please check with your insurance provider). You can use private insurance cover in addition to Medicare rebates, (but you cannot claim twice for the same service). You do not need a referral from a medical practitioner to qualify for private health insurance rebates. Often times your insurer will require you to complete the Medicare provided sessions before they allow you to claim privately. Contact your insurer for further information.

Extra support

The Viewpoint is not a bulk billing clinic. We do however support care for all members of the community. If you have exceptional circumstances where you need fee help, please contact us to discuss options.
